Types Of Lasik Eye Surgery
There are three main types of Lasik Eye Surgery.
LASIK (laser-assisted in-situ keratomileusis) is the most common form of laser eye surgery. With this type of laser surgery, the surgeon will leave a flap of tissue attached to the cornea. Next, the surgeon will cover the laser-corrected corneal surface with the flap. When surgery is completed, the eye usually heals within 10 to 12 hours.
Custom LASIK is very similar to LASIK with one additional feature. The surgeon will use special instruments to measure the eye before the surgery takes place. This helps make sure the surgery has the best possible results.
PRK (photorefractive keratechtomy) is also very much like LASIK. The primary difference is that the surgeon uses a laser to reshape the cornea, instead of using the flap to do this.
